Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced that every earthquake will be given a smartphone. The goal of giving smartphones to farmers is that they get education of good agricultural technology and important information for the fields is broadcasted. The state has assembly elections and Lok Sabha elections next year. This announcement made by the new Patnaik government, before the farmers, can prove to be a game changer.
Following the announcement of the Chief Minister, the Opposition party protested. Opposition parties have demonstrated that the BJD is misusing the state's political fund for political gain.

State Minister Suryanarayan Patra said that the government has sanctioned Rs 3 crore to give a smartphone to the farmers. This smartphone will be given to farmers who are registered in the Primary Agricultural Co-Operative Society. He said that 2000 farmers in every district of 30 districts are now registered in this society.
The minister said that the smartphone given to the farmers will also have a wash-up, so farmers can also be sent to modern technology videos. Through phone they will be given all kinds of information including the type of land, weather, yield, organic farming, information of different crops and the value of its yield.
Not only that, the smartphone will be informed about the different schemes of the government. He said that a technical committee of Co-operation Department has been formed. In the first week of August, this committee will decide what kind of smartphone design, features and guideline it is. Which makes it easy to manage.
